The compact TQ HPR40 motor is at the heart of the new Domane+ SL. Designed for smooth, natural-feeling support, it adds assistance when you want it while keeping the bike discreet and recognisably a road bike.
That makes it an appealing option for riders who want help on hilly routes, a little support on longer days or an easier way to stay together on a group ride. Assistance can be tailored through the Trek Central app to suit how you like to ride.
The new platform uses 500 Series OCLV Carbon, bringing the Domane+ experience to a more accessible price point. The SL 6 AXS starts at £5,250, with Trek listing an ML bike at 12.11kg with tubeless sealant and no tubes. Actual weight varies with size and specification.
Comfort remains central to the design. Endurance geometry provides a more upright riding position, a new riser handlebar adds 20mm of rise, and the carbon seatpost is designed to flex vertically to help absorb road chatter.
The Domane+ SL 6 AXS has an integrated 360Wh battery. Trek estimates approximately 70 miles in Eco mode. For SL 7 AXS and SL 9 AXS builds, Project One offers a choice of 360Wh or 580Wh, with Trek estimating approximately 115 miles in Eco mode for the larger battery.
These are Trek's estimates, rather than guaranteed distances. Your range depends on assistance level, terrain, rider weight, tyres and riding style. Trek Central provides range estimates to help you plan your ride.
Our SL 6 AXS uses wireless SRAM Rival XPLR AXS 1x13 gearing, pairing a 44-tooth chainring with a 10–46 cassette. You get one chainring, 13 gears and a broad spread of ratios for varied terrain.
The cassette provides a 460% gear range, compared with approximately 455% for a traditional 50/34 compact double paired with an 11–34 cassette. The SL 6 also has a slightly lower easiest gear, useful on climbs. That comparison is about the overall spread of gearing; the steps between gears and highest gear are different.
The SL 6 comes with 35mm tyres, while the frame has clearance for tyres up to 40mm without mudguards. That gives you room to explore rougher lanes and light gravel as well as smooth roads. With mudguards fitted, the maximum tyre size is 35mm.
Integrated front and rear lights draw power from the main battery, and mudguard mounts make the bike practical for changing conditions. It is a thoughtful package for real-world road riding.
