The SCOTT Ransom 400 is a serious full-suspension mountain bike built specifically for young riders who want to progress beyond ordinary kids' bikes and start tackling proper trails, jumps and bike parks.
Designed for riders around 125–135cm tall, the Ransom 400 combines 24-inch wheels with a lightweight alloy frame and genuinely capable suspension. The X-Fusion Slant RC fork provides 140mm of travel, while the kid-tuned X-Fusion rear shock delivers 130mm of rear travel, giving younger riders the control and confidence they need on rougher terrain.
This isn't simply an adult mountain bike scaled down. The suspension, geometry, cockpit and controls have all been chosen with younger riders in mind. Short-reach Shimano hydraulic disc brakes are easier for smaller hands to operate, while the adjustable Syncros dropper post offers 75–100mm of travel.
The Ransom 400 also uses the same frame and fork platform as the larger Ransom 600, giving it a useful extra advantage as your child grows. The bike is designed around a 24"/26" compatible platform, so it can be converted to run larger 26-inch wheels in the future rather than immediately needing to be replaced with a completely new bike.
A dependable SRAM NX 11-speed drivetrain with an 11-42T cassette provides a wide range of gears, while aggressive Kenda Hellkat 24x2.4" tyres provide plenty of grip on loose and technical trails.
For young riders who are already confidently riding mountain bike trails and want a bike capable of keeping up as their skills develop, the SCOTT Ransom 400 is a genuine premium kids' mountain bike — not just a kids' bike made to look like one.

Bike Build & Delivery
All our bikes are built in store and thoroughly inspected, before carefully packing back up for shipping. If you have selected our white glove delivery service, the bike will come to you ready to ride and the driver can help with some basic bike setup (Saddle height and suspension) at your doorstep. Please be aware if you haven’t selected our white glove delivery service the bike will require some assembly, which we recommend be carried out by an experienced mechanic.
