Trek EX 27.5 Plus & 29

wp-1469731095562.jpgTrek have redesigned their popular EX for 2017, we now have the bike available with 27.5 Plus wheels and 29″ wheels. Both bikes accept the both wheel sizes (they use the same frame and forks with boost spacing).

Travel has been increased up to 130mm rear and 140mm front, the bike has been made a touch longer, lower and slacker (similar to the 2015 remedy 29er). New frame features, straight down tube for stiffness, knock block headset / steerer to avoid trashing your frame if you turn the bars past 90deg), metric shock sizing, boost hub spacing.

We have in stock all 3 models of the 27.5 Plus EX as we think that will be the more popular option, the tire sizes should make the bike even more fun to ride! We also have the EX 8 29 in stock too which should run better in the depths of winter in deep mud. Which ever size you go for, you could always fit the other wheel size to suit your style of riding and conditions.

I like the look of the EX 9.8 27.5 Plus so much I’ve ordered one for myself! The bike is currently on display in the shop to buy but be quick before I take it home!

Here is what Trek have to say about the bike :-

Trail riders expect more from their bikes than ever, while suspension performance continues to improve in both efficiency and control. With this evolution in mind, we made the Fuel EX more capable with a bump in suspension travel, more aggressive geometry, and much stiffer frames. We’ve also simplified the trail bike lineup to eliminate multiple wheel size offerings in each platform, and focused on simply making the best riding bikes for each category, regardless of wheel size.

Fuel EX 29 goes from 120mm travel to 130mm travel front and rear, and gets a longer, slacker geometry for more confident handling on high-speed descents. We also made the frame stiffer using a straight downtube, for a bike that won’t flinch on rough descents.

New Fuel EX also includes three Women’s models geared toward female trail riders who want the same performance and features as the mainline models, but with a distinct lady-shredder style and saddle. Fuel EX Women’s also gives smaller women more maneuverability by pairing the 15.5” and new 14” size with more proportional 27.5” wheels for better fit and control.

It’s the summer of trail bikes here at Trek, and we’ve got hot new dirt-surfers for every trail rider.
